The hottest season in technology is about to start very soon. We’re talking about the fall, of course, the time right after everyone’s back from their summer holidays and looks out for new gadgets. While most people tend to buy around the end of the year at the very busy Holiday season, the cool new gadgets get unveiled earlier and stores get more time to stock up on them.

This is why the end of the summer that’s quickly approaching is not the best time to buy a new gadget. Even if we’re talking about the flagship phones from Apple, Samsung, or most other tech giants out there.

The most obvious reason is that in less than a month, consumers will get plentiful new choice, and even if you don’t like the new devices that get unveiled, you’d get to make an informed decision whether to buy the new or the older one. Plus, current gadgets will get huge discounts in just about that time. That’s why we’ve come up with this list of otherwise great gadgets that you might want to buy right now, but really should not. Wait it out, if you can.

Here are 5 devices that you might want to buy right now, but shouldn't

1. Apple iPhone 5s
Hint: The new iPhone 6 is coming!

Hey, the iPhone 5s might be the latest that Apple has to offer at the current moment, but the company follows a yearly schedule of upgrading its phones and this upgrade is about to happen very soon and it is expected to be the company’s biggest! Apple will unveil the iPhone 6 on September 9th, and we expect to see it in two larger sizes than the current 4-inch one: a 4.7” iPhone 6 and a 5.5” one are coming, so brace yourselves. Even if you don’t like those sizes, chances are that in a month, the current iPhone 5s will be hugely discounted, so it’s worth waiting a bit.

2. Samsung Galaxy Note 3
Hint: The new Samsung Galaxy Note 4 is right around the corner!

The new Note 4 phablet is getting unveiled on September 3rd, which is in less in a month, so if you’re considering buying a bid phone, you might want to wait just a little bit more. The Note 4 is expected to be a big upgrade over the current Note 3 - while it is said to keep the same, 5.7-inch display, the resolution is getting a boost to 1440 x 2560-pixel heights, it’s expected to be redesigned, probably feature a finger scanner, and have the newest Snapdragon 805 system chip under the hood.

3. Nokia Lumia 1020
Hint: Microsoft is said to unveil a new camera-centric phone to succeed the 1020 soon!

The 41-megapixel camera on the Nokia Lumia 1020 and its excellent photographic capabilities have brought it a loyal following, but if you want to buy the best cameraphone out there, it’s worth waiting a bit. We’ve been hearing about a mysterious Microsoft smartphone with the codename McLaren, expected to succeed the Lumia 1020, and it should be coming soon this fall.

4. Any smartwatch
Hint: The Apple iWatch will answer many questions about the future of smartwatches soon

Why shouldn’t you buy a smartwatch when the brand new Android Wear has arrived with new devices? Simple - they don’t live up to any decent standard of battery longevity, nor do they offer any truly revolutionary features. While we are far from certain that the iWatch will deliver on all those fronts, it’s at least worth waiting for it - Apple is said to officially unveil it in September, in just around a month.

5. Apple and Google's current tablets: iPad Air, Nexus 7
Hint: More than a year has passed, and we now expect new and more powerful tablets by both Google and Apple

The Apple iPad Air has just received a $100 price cut, probably the surest way to know that Apple is ready to clean the shelves for the next generation. The new iPad Air is said to feature an anti-reflective screen coating that should make it much easier to read outdoors, and it'd of course be more powerful and likely feature a Touch ID sensor. The Nexus 7 (2013) by Google, on the other hand, impressed us with its excellent display, and we expect this year Google to move further up a notch with a tablet made in cooperation with HTC (at least that’s what rumors say). We’ve been hearing whispers about this being an absolute power monster with the new Tegra K1 system chip on board and a higher-res display. Not bad for a tablet expected to cost around half of what Apple’s rivals cost, isn’t it?
