Android 4.4 KitKat update rolling out to LG's G Flex (only in Korea for now)

ــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــ

LG is now offering an official Android 4.4 KitKat update for its curved G Flex smartphone in South Korea. All three Korean variants of the G Flex are getting KitKat: LG F340S, LG F340K, and LG F340L.

The update includes the new Knock Code screen unlocking feature that LG has been heavily promoting since last month (the feature is already available on newer handsets, starting with the LG G Pro 2). What the update doesn’t seem to include is support for 4K video. But maybe this will be available when the KitKat update arrives on the international version of the G Flex? We can’t know for sure, but we’ll certainly keep you posted.

The G Flex was released by LG in November last year as its first smartphone to feature a curved, flexible display. The handset can be purchased in many markets around the world, including in the US - where we're hoping to see it getting KitKat soon.

LG Optimus Exceed 2 for Verizon prepaid press render leaks
ـــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــ

If this latest press render of another device bound for Verizon’s prepaid line-up is any indicator, we are not betting on seeing 4G/LTE service support for Big Red’s prepaid ALLSET service anytime soon.
The new device is the LG Optimus Exceed 2. If you have not heard anything about this device you need not worry too much as it is not going to be a trailblazing flagship.

On Twitter today, LG UK released
another photo of the G Watch that was first announced alongside Google's Android Wear platform last week. The photo is an upgrade from the first one the company released at the time of the announcement, which showed the smartwatch's face shrouded in black. At a glance, the G Watch immediately looks different than the Moto 360 with its square-ish face, while looking similar to existing devices like the Sony SmartWatch 2. In a statement made at the time of the original announcement, LG's CEO said that this device was "developed in close collaboration with Google," but since no specs have been released yet, we can't say exactly how that collaboration will translate into the product. LG claims the G Watch will be released sometime in Q2.

Would you pay $32 for LG's new smart bulb that connects with Android and iOs

LG has introduced its line of smart bulbs. Surely Thomas Edison could never have conceived of anything like this. These low wattage bulbs can last for as long as 10 years. Consider that an LG smart bulb screwed into a lamp today could provide light until the unveiling of the Apple iPhone 16. These bulbs also can work with devices running iOS 6 and higher, and Android 4.3 and higher, to remotely turn the lights in your house on and off. This way, when you're on vacation, you can make it appear as though someone is still home.
