 With two of the five business days this week already over and done with, and no word from Apple about its rumored $3.2 billion deal to buy Beats Audio, is it possible that Tim Cook is having second thoughts about the deal? The speculation late last week said that Apple would announce its largest acquisition ever during this week, and there was that video selfie taken by Dr. Dre that seemed to confirm the transaction. Is there anything that has changed recently, new information perhaps, that would make Apple slow down announcing the transaction?

Sure, the camera's LED light can be used as one (if enabled from the phone's accessibility settings), but for many, that simply isn't elegant enough of a solution. Kristin Paget, who once worked on the Apple iPhone security team in Cupertino, questioned Apple on her blog for a decision it made relating to recently discovered security issues on OS X and iOS. Usually, two separate products from the same company, with the same security issue, are fixed at the same time. Instead, Apple went ahead and fixed the OS X flaw first, waiting for this week's iOS 7.1.1 update to repair the problem on its mobile OS.

An attorney for Google testified in court that it would take over the defense against some of Apple’s claims in the patent lawsuit between Apple and Samsung. The move is part of a contractual agreement between Google and Samsung, where the former would indemnify the latter should Samsung suffer a loss as a result of whatever the ruling ends up being.
