The BlackBerry Classic (initially known as Q20) was first revealed in February, at the same time with the BlackBerry Z3. While the Z3 is available in some markets since May, the Classic has yet to be released. Last we heard, the handset was supposed to go on sale in November, but this won’t happen after all. Instead, the new device will be launched in December.
Speaking at the MIT Enterprise Forum in Hong Kong, BlackBerry CEO John Chen said that BES12 (BlackBerry Enterprise Server 12) would be released on November 13, while the Classic would arrive “one month later.” You can see Chen talking about this in the lengthy video that’s embedded below, immediately after the 1:05:00 mark.
As its name suggests, the BlackBerry Classic marks a return to the classic BlackBerry design. It’s got a full QWERTY keyboard below a 3.5-inch touchscreen display, while other features reportedly include a quad-core 1.5 GHz Snapdragon processor, 8 MP rear camera, 2 MP front-facing camera, 2 GB of RAM, and a 2515 mAh battery. Pricing details haven’t been revealed, but we don’t expect the BlackBerry Classic to be too expensive anyway.
