Six Android apps by Google that you might have not tried yet

If you open up the Google Play store and search for apps developed by Google itself, then you'll end up with dozens of results. Among them will be some of the most popular Android apps, including GMail, YouTube, Hangouts, and Google Play Music.

Among these apps, however, are some that you might have not tried yet - apps that, unlike the ones we mentioned, don't come pre-loaded on brand-name Android phones and tablets. In this post we're
ighlighting six of these lesser-known Google Apps for Android.

1. YouTube Remote

YouTube Remote is an app for interacting with the YouTube Leanback interface, which is optimised for devices with larger screens - internet enabled TVs or desktop computers, for example. To use the app, you have to pair your TV or computer with your smartphone or tablet. Worry not, the pairing process is hassle-free and takes just a minute or so.

2. Google Chrome Beta

You surely know that Chrome, the most popular desktop web-browser, is available in mobile form as well. What you might not know, however, is that a beta version of Chrome is also freely available for any Android user to try. It lets you preview the latest of Chrome's features and give feedback on them back to Google. Stability might be an issue, but that's typical for a beta app.

3. My Tracks

My Tracks is an app that logs your every move... quite literally. It tracks your path, speed, distance, and elevation as you walk, run, or drive. Tracks can be shared with friends or made public via Facebook, Twitter, and Google Plus.

4. Google Authenticator

This app makes it much harder for a hacker to hijack your Google Account by enabling a 2-step account verification process. When enabled, signing in will require not only your username and password, but also a code generated by the Google Authenticator application.

6. Google Gesture Search

As the name implies, this app lets you search through the stuff stored on your phone using gestures. Just swipe in the name of whatever it is you're looking for - a song, a contact, an app, bookmark, or setting.
