HTC Vive orders are getting canceled by mistake

HTC Vive orders are getting canceled by mistake

HTC Vive orders are getting canceled by mistake
HTC was hoping that the introduction of the Vive VR headset would help turn the company around. Flowing red ink from every orifice  in its corporate body following the flop that was the HTC One M9, the Vive era got off to a great start whenthe company grossed $12 million in the first 10 minutes of accepting pre-orders for the headset.

But a problem has developed. Processing issues with financial institutions have led to the accidental cancellation of Vive pre-orders. HTC is working with its customers and the banks and has already reinstated orders for a number of customers. The HTC Vive costs $799.99 and is scheduled to start shipping this coming Monday, April 4th.

If you received a notice stating that your Vive order was automatically cancelled, you should immediately call your bank or financial institution. And you might want to give HTC a call as well at (888) 216-4736. As we noted, HTC is expecting big things from the Vive. HTC co-founder and current CEO Cher Wang said back in January that "Smartphones are important, but to create a natural extension to other connected devices like wearables and virtual reality is more important."

"While fulfilling this week's orders for HTC Vive, a limited number of individuals were affected by auto cancellations due to processing issues with financial institutions. We're actively working to resolve this, and have already reinstated orders for some customers. We want to assure our customers that we'll work with them to process their payment so they can receive their Vive when they were expecting it. If you pre-ordered a Vive, we encourage you to contact your financial institution to notify them of upcoming charges."

Other companies like Samsung, Google offer various VR "hardware" and with companies like McDonald's and Coke turning their packaging into VR viewers, it certainly seems that corporate America is drinking the Kool Aid. And that dovetails with Ms. Wang's comments about the importance of Virtual Reality to HTC's financial reality.

New HTC 10 (One M10) wallpapers leak out

New HTC 10 (One M10) wallpapers leak out

Not long after we saw the very first Quad HD Sense 8.0 wallpaper for the HTC 10, we can now check out three other wallpapers - which, thanks to HTC ROM developer @LlabTooFeR, are available to download for anyone who's interested.

The three new Sense 8.0 wallpapers, which should be included by default on the HTC 10, share a somewhat similar geometrical simplicity, and look pretty cool (sure enough, that's a subjective thing to say).

As a reminder, the HTC 10 will offer a Quad HD display measuring around 5.1 inches, so all wallpapers have 2880 x 2560 pixels. You can get them below - double click/tap to zoom in and save as.

HTC will announce its new flagship smartphone (previously known as One M10) on April 12. The handset could be available to buy starting April 15 - at least in Taiwain, HTC's home country.

It seems that the HTC 10 blends design elements from the One A9 and One M9, having a metal body, and a fingerprint scanner on the front. According to HTC, the device features a new kind of "boom" sound, plus "world first, world class" rear and back cameras. Other highlights should include a powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor, and 4 GB of RAM. Are you interested?

Android 6.0.1 is pushed out for the HTC Desire EYE; update for AT&T subscribers coming this month?

Android 6.0.1 is pushed out for the HTC Desire EYE; update for AT&T subscribers coming this month?

HTC Desire EYE receives update to Android 6.0.1 and Sense 7.0 in certain countries
One of our loyal readers passed along to us a screenshot today revealing that his HTC Desire EYE was being updated to Android 6.0.1 with Sense 7.0 in the UAE. Other countries in Europe are reportedly receiving the update as well, including Italy. U.S. Desire EYE users, who purchased the device exclusively from AT&T, will be receiving the update later this month.

No one really expected the camera-centric phone to receive the Marshmallow build of Android until January when ROM developer @LlabTooFeR revealed thatowners of the handset should expect to receive Android 6.0.1 and Sense 7.0 sometime this year. The Desire EYE launched in 2014, and featured a 13MP shooter on the back and in the front of the unit.

The HTC Desire EYE was launched with Android 4.4.4 KitKat pre-installed, was updated to Lollipop, and now runs on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow. The update includesDoze, the feature that puts an inactive handset into a deep sleep state and even stops apps from working in the background. This increases the standby time of the phone, and in turn, the battery life is extended.

Google Now On Tap is a contextual search engine that produces search results based on the content on your screen, And with the update, app permissions can be given or denied on a feature-by-feature basis. When the notification hits your Desire EYE telling you that the update has arrived, make sure that you are on a Wi-Fi network before beginning the updating process. At the same time, check to make sure that your battery is charged to at least 50%.

The update comes in two parts weighing in at a total of 1.6GB. The first update prepares the phone for Marshmallow, while the second one contains the actual Android 6.0.1 files.

Thanks for the tip!
