Sony's online support page is full of stories from Sony Xperia Z5 users whose phone "broke" following the recent update to Android 6.0. According to those complaining, following the installation of the new Android build, a sign pops up on the Xperia Z5 screen stating that the Google Play Store has stopped. At the same time, users of these handsets cannot open the app.

So how has Sony handled this issue? The manufacturer has suggested that if your Xperia Z5 won't open the Google Play Store following the update to Android 6.0, a factory reset might do the trick. And while it has solved the problem for some, there are still many Xperia Z5 users that still can't access the Play Store even following a factory reset.

Based on responses to the Sony support forum, the best way to fix the problem is to sync your Xperia Z5 to the PC on your desktop, and head to PC Companion (http://support.sonymobile.com/gb/tools/pc-companion). There, you will be able to re-install Android 6.0. This time however, you won't lose the ability to open up the Google Play Store.

Let us know if this did the trick by dropping your comment into the box below.

For all its robustness and feature richness, Android (and iOS, frankly) is full of little things that just don't work as seamlessly as you expect them to. And more often than not, these things get in the way of an otherwise leisury user experience and end up quite frustrating. Here's a common case – say you're trying to copy and paste a piece of text or other content from some application, but you can't because the app won't let you do that for some reason. And you won't go on busting your fingers retyping all that information, will you now? It's 2016, it has to be better than that!

Sony Xperia Z3+ was advertized during the crazy 2015 UEFA Super Cup match between Barcelona and Sevilla

Sony Xperia Z3+ was advertized during the crazy 2015 UEFA Super Cup match between Barcelona and Sevilla
Back in May, Sony announced that, starting with the 2015 / 2016 UEFA Champions League season, it would be able to promote its Xperia brand on football stadiums across Europe, as part of a new deal with UEFA. While the new Champions League season has yet to properly start (play-offs have to be played first), Sony already had the opportunity to show off the Xperia logo during the 2015 UEFA Super Cup match.

Played yesterday, on August 11, the Super Cup match involved FC Barcelona (winners of the 2014-15 UEFA Champions League) and Sevilla FC (winners of the 2014-15 UEFA Europa League). While Messi and others were busy scoring goals (there have been no less than 9 of them, in a truly crazy game that ended 5-4 for Barcelona), pitchside billboards often displayed "Sony Xperia", and even "Xperia Z3+" ads. Thus, the Z3+ became the only smartphone promoted during the match.

With hundreds of millions of fans all over the world watching each UEFA Champions League season (either on TV, or on stadiums), Sony's partnership with UEFA might be extremely beneficial for the Xperia brand. Of course, it remains to be seen if all this will help when it comes to smartphone and

New Sony Xperia Z3 commercials ask you to demand "great" instead of just "good"

Sony today unleashed a couple of new TV commercials that promote its Xperia Z3 series. Both commercials feature a pretty powerful soundtrack (Nightcall by London Grammar, if you’re curious to know), and end with the same “Don’t settle for good. Demand great.” tagline.

The new ads showcase the fact that Sony’s Xperia Z3 smartphones can take “incredible photos even in low light.” Moreover, they remind us that the devices are waterproof, offer up to two days ofbattery life, and are the only ones in the world to feature Remote Play for PlayStation. Sony’s SmartBand Talk also makes an appearance.

While getting ready to launch the LG G3 (which will be the first Quad HD smartphone in the US) and the Nokia Lumia 635 (the first Windows Phone 8.1 handset in North America), T-Mobile reportedly also prepares the release of Sony’s Xperia T2 Ultra.

According to TmoNews, the T2 Ultra should be available to buy at T-Mobile from July 23. There’s no word on how much the (un)carrier will ask for the handset, but we can tell you that Amazon is currently selling this Xperia for $380, unlocked.
