Using what it calls Skynet UI, Microsoft Research is working on a way to scan faces using a regular Windows Phone camera, and print out a high quality image using a 3D printer. The process of turning physical objects into 3D models is called 3D Reconstruction, and the Skynet UI is supposed to make the whole process a lot easier for consumers to do.

Windows and Windows Phone app stores combined now feature over 400,000 apps
Microsoft’s Windows Phone Marketplace has been growing at a steady pace in the last few months, and the third-largest app catalog seems to have officially grown to over 250,000 apps. Just before Microsoft kicks off its 2014 Build developer conference, NeoWin snapped an image of the signage that is already being put up in preparation for the event at the Moscone Center in San Francisco, and the image reveals that Microsoft now has over 400,000 apps combined on the Windows and Windows Phone app stores. Recent reports revealed that there are more than 150,000 apps on the Windows marketplace, so that leaves us with 250,000 apps on the Windows Phone store.

Windows Phone makes sales gains in Europe and US, Motorola back on the map
Microsoft continues to see robust growth for Windows Phone sales, and the Moto G has put Motorola on the map since it launched late last year thanks to its impressive featu.Motorola’s success, according to the newest report from Kantar Worldpanel, is notable because the company soon to be acquired by Lenovo, “was nowhere in Europe before the Moto G launched in November…but the new model has since boosted the manufacturer to 6% of British sales.”
